Solar Power Plants incur high upfront captial cost, and very low maintenance cost. There is no variable cost involved in generating electricity once the plant it setup, as the fuel (sunlight) is available for free. Once set up the Solar energy generated will reduce the dependence of the end user on their local Distribution Company (DISCOM) to purchase electricity from the Grid. As Solar Panels have an active life of at least 25 years, the free source of energy helps the end users to save money on every increasing electricity bills from the Grid.
Therefore, the energy generated from onsite Solar Plant will reduce equivalent units of electricity drawn from the Grid, and thus the savings to the end user will be solar energy generated multiplied by the difference of DISCOM tariff and variable cost of solar energy.
